What is the “Arctic Sea ice minimum extent?”

    The Arctic Sea has an annual minimum ice extent ever year.  This is referring to the point of the year when the ice has retracted the furthest.  In 2010, the annual minimum extent was reached on September 10th.  This was the third lowest minimum extent in satellite record.
