    The largest recorded ant colony is that of the Argentine ant in Europe.  The colony spans roughly 6,000 km (3,728 miles) from Italy all the way through to the Atlantic coast of Spain.

    Argentine ants are known to produce the world’s largest colonies.  They form mega-colonies, one known to stretch for over 6,000 kms (3,700 miles) along the Mediterranean coast in Europe.  The colony consists of millions of nests and billions of workers!
