The largest lungs belong to the blue whale.  However, the harbor porpoise has the largest lung capacity compared to body size.  The reason that these marine mammals have larger lungs is because its very useful in counteracting the buoyancy they need.

The harbor porpoise has the greatest lung capacity of any mammal.

The harbor porpoise has the largest lung capacity relative to its body size, however it certainly doesn’t have the greatest lung capacity of any animal. This is obvious, given that the harbor porpoise could fit its entire body many times over into the lung of a blue whale.
