There are many animals that do this. It’s known officially as “filial cannibalism.” Bank voles, house finches, wolf spiders, and many fish will eat their young. Many rodents, including rats and mice will also do this. Butterflies will often eat their eggs. Many primates will do this, including baboons, and occasionally chimps. Even kangaroos will occasionally eat their young.
There are many reasons why animals do this–sometimes the parents are undernourished and cannot raise the young. Sometimes males of species will eat their young in order to remain the “heads” of their groups.
Although considered uncommon, guinea pigs are another rodent that can eat their young. This actually happened with my guinea pigs when I was a little kid, and it was pretty traumatizing for me!
