    According to this article, there are snakes that have been kept alive without food for nearly two years. This is because they don’t use the fuel from food to keep themselves warm like warm-blooded animals do. Also, many animals “fast” for a few months during their winter hibernations, such as some species of bears, and dogs can go from 21 to 117 days without food based on its original size.
