Allochthonus sediment is transported into an environment, where it is deposited, and where sedimentary rocks may be formed from it.  Therefore, they are a kind of travelling sediment.  Included classes are terrigenous and pyroclastic.  Allochthonus sediments may affect the environments they arrive in, since they are, in fact, foreigners.
