    An alkaline cell is a subcategory of the more general galvanized cell.  An alkaline cell, or alkaline battery, is a battery dependent on the chemical reactions between manganese oxide and zinc, as opposed to carbon and zinc.

    Alkaline batteries are a type of disposable battery or rechargeable battery dependent upon the reaction between zinc and manganese (IV) oxide (Zn/MnO2).
