Agribusiness is a term used to refer to business that are involved in the food industry, from the farming and farming supply businesses to the processing, marketing and retailing of foodstuffs.
It is also a term that can carry negative connotations and refer to the largescale corporate farming structure.
While agribusiness is typically used to describe farmers and farming, it’s a lot more than that. Agribusiness involves more the business side of farming, and is run like an actual business, with managers and presidents, and so on, as oppose to farmers. Agribusiness can include producing everything from the basic, raw fruits and vegetables, to the more processed foods, such as olive oil and corn syrup. Overall, agribusiness involves the “production, processing, and supply of agricultural goods” (wise geek).
