Ebony trees are evergreen trees with gray-black bark that grow in both Africa and Asia. It is a hardwood tree, and has the unique fortune that termites won’t eat the live wood of the tree. They grow best in tropical climates, and prefer loamy soil (volcanic and loamy sand). It’s normal to find an African ebony tree that is 15-18 feet tall, but they have the potential to grow to 16 feet in diameter and 80 feet in height.
