Not really. Only a very few countries still practice whaling, in opposition to International Whaling Commission practices. These countries include Japan, where whaling is classified as “scientific research” and in Norway and Greenland (and a handful of much smaller contributor countries) where whaling is still practiced to obtain whale meat for food. While the meat from minke and other whale species still finds a market in some countries, all of the historic uses of whale oil have been replaced by synthetics and other materials.
