were we more prepared for Chile because of what we went through with Haiti?

I don’t think so.  Because these earthquakes happened so close to eachother, and so many resources were already devoted to helping Haiti, we were likely not poised to send efforts to Chile.  One good thing was that money was coming in quite quickly to relief organizations such as the red cross, however it is unlikely that they were not already using as many resources as possible for Haiti.  I think the big difference is the fact that Chile is built to withstand earthquakes, as they have a long history of tremors.

I agree.  I think Chile had a better infrastructure and isn’t as poverty ridden as Haiti, so they were able to be a little more resilient and needed less resources for recovery.
