Were the types of cars you were able to buy with the cash for clunkers program limited?

    Slightly. The cars couldn’t exceed $45,000 and additionally if you traded a truck for instance, you couldn’t get a passenger car because they were different “categories” of cars. If the car you were trading in for was a passenger car it had to have a combined fuel economy value of at least 22 mpg since the whole point of the program was to trade in less fuel-efficient cars for more fuel-efficient ones.
