That is a question we may never know the answer to (unless we master time travel that is). Since wood is organic it biodegrades and would not leave artifacts for us to find so many thousands of years later. So the earliest tools have a found are stone tools, but it is very possible that wooden tools were used as well or even before but have not survived until today especially considering that much of the tool use we see in chimpanzees is done with wood and other plant matter. Great question!
