Were birds of prey ever trained to deliberately attack humans as an offensive weapon?

Falconry is an ancient sport, with records dating back as far as 700 BCE, and maybe even further. Often, falcons held a place in society analogus to hunting dogs, trained to go out for sport and bring down game birds, in the same way as dogs were sent to hunt small game. However, much as war dogs were developed out of this practice, it is likely that at some point falconry was used as an offensive weapon. However, unlike dogs, it is hard to release a mass of falcons, and they are much easier to bring down, as well as being more expensive, which is probably why there are few records of what may not have been the best idea.

    I hope this helped!
