Well, wax paper does require petroleum in its production, which definitely takes points off from it being eco-friendly. You CAN compost wax paper, but you generally can’t send it to be recycled. There are brands of wax paper that tout themselves as eco friendly. However, when possible, try to cut back on your use of wax paper – find other things that can be reused.
I would think not. You can’t recycle it because it doesn’t mesh with regular paper and the materials used in wax paper make it harder to decompose. I would avoid using it, but if you have to, there’s a company that has more eco-friendly wax paper options. Just check out the site below.
