Is the water in a marsh or a swamp safe to swim in other than the animals?

I wouldn’t recommend it. Firstly, many creatures live in wetlands, swamps, and similar areas. They could hurt you, or you could hurt them. Wetlands often have general safety hazards, like mud that gets you stuck or fallen logs that could trap you. The water itself might have bacteria in it that humans (and pets, for that matter) are not adapted to deal with.

It is generally unsafe to swim in marshes, swamps, or wetlands. Also, these are often protected areas in which you are legally restricted from swimming or disturbing the natural balance of things.
