Is water harder to treat because people put too much food down the garbage disposal?

    Simple answer: NO.

Food is organic, biodegradable waste and is generally easy to remove in water treatment. What makes treating water more complicated is removing various chemicals that get into the water. Cleaning products and other toxic wastes represent a much greater challenge (or at least effort) to remove safely from water.
