But during periods of extreme exertion and excessive heat, when lots of bodily fluids like sweat are lost, drinking sports drinks like gatorade can be more beneficial to your body than pure water because sports drinks contain salt and electrolytes, the things that are lost when your body sweats. But on a regular basis, throughout the day, water is the best thing to drink. Milk is also an important liquid to consume as a source of calcium, and is especially good for children to drink while growing.
