Yes, it was the worst flood in Nashville’s history. The Cumberland River was nearly 12 feet above the flood stage. The flood topped out at 52 feet before the flood began to recede. Nashville received more than 13 inches of rain in a two day period, which is more than twice as high as Nashville’s previous precipitation record.
