Was snowfall a problem in the Winter Olympics?

It was. Winter temperatures in Vancouver were several degrees Celsius above average, resulting in very little snow. The Vancouver games organizing committee had to resort to methods like airlifting snow by helicopter; hauling it by truck from three hours away; shooting ice and water out of a snow cannon; using a zamoni; and bulking up snow-free slopes with bales of straw.
