Even though we don’t have much proof, I do think that ancient Egypt had to be sustainable! Since there wasn’t global travel, the majority, if not all of the Egyptian’s food was raised right there in Egypt. I am sure they were aware that they had to sustain their animal and crop numbers in order to ensure for food in the future. The reason why the philosophy behind sustainability is so popular right now is because ancient peoples were forced to maintain sustainable food sources- this way, only local foods are consumed; the idea is very desirable as it is very healthy and natural for humans to only consume what is local.
