Was the government actually blamed in court for some of the damage wrought by Katrina?

    Yes, there are numerous lawsuits against the government and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In Jan. 2008, one person sued the Army Corps for 3 quadrillion dollars. At the time, the Army Corps said it had received 247 claims of at least $1 billion. And in March 2009, a federal judge in Louisiana said people can sue the Army Corps for property damage fro not properly maintaining facilities.
