Is venison higher in protein than beef?

Different cuts of any kind of meat will have varying protein contents, but in general, venison is leaner than beef, and therefore, has a higher percentage of protein. According to Encyclopedia Brittanica, a lean venison roast has about the same protein content as a lean beef rump.

Man we have been hunting forever and we have always been told that it does but thanks for explaining why. Leaner meat is higher in protein. Thanks.
