No. Uranium mining stopped near the Grand Canyon in July of this year. Interior Secretary Ken Salaazar ordered a freeze on all uranium mining in the Grand Canyon amid fears that the more than one million acres of mines were damaging local ecosystems. The freeze on mining will last at least two years, during which time the department of the interior will investigate the environmental effects of Uranium mining.
