Is unemployment bad for the environment?

Not at all. Unemployment usually is one part of a recession. Recessions are economic downturns which result in people buying less goods. Goods are energetically expensive to produce, which result in greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Additionally, people who are unemployed are likely to drive less and buy even less than the average person in a recession, further driving down carbon emissions.
