Under what conditions do pollens get preserved the best?

Pollen naturally preserves well, because of its protective casing. When it drifts into wetlands or peatlands, it preserves best as it is covered by wet sediments. As long as the sediment remains wet covering the pollen, it can remain intact for millions of years.
