A key issue with most solar energy installations is how much direct sunlight they get.
That’s why you read about big solar installations, for example, inland in lower California, and in the lower US states.
That doesn’t mean it’s impossible or even uneconomical in some situations to build further north, by the sea where it’s cloudier. But the combination of lack of sun, high winds, and corrosive sea salt make many coastal areas less attractive for solar power generation.
