Type your question here…Isn’t the release of balloons a danger to wildlife and also the environment?

This depends on the composition of the balloon.  Some studies indicate that latex balloons, which is a 100% natural substance, degrade in the environment about as fast as a leaf from an oak tree.  They are also degraded in water, and organisms attack rubber almost immediately.

However, a mylar ballon was found in the intestines of a whale in Virginia. The balloon was suspected as the cause of death.  Mylar, a substance developed by NASA, is not bio-degradeable and can have adverse environmental effects.  It’s easily identified because balloons made with mylar typically have a metallic finish.
