They’re opposed, in Congress, to any sort of federal funding for solar and other renewable energies, so I’d assume that they take the same approach in California specifically. The California Tea Party is in particular is opposed to spending and taxing, period.
The Tea Party does not really take a strong stance on environmental issues. Their primary points of political concern are limited federal government and increased individual freedom; free markets and personal responsibility; and returning political decision making to the states and the people. They do not consider themselves a “third party” but instead they think of themselves as a “grassroots movement of millions of like minded Americans.” As such, they are opposed in principle to any government funding of projects, including solar.
