The articles below show the affect windmills have on flying life. Birds can hit the rotors and break their necks every now and then. Bat deaths are far more significant. The vacuum created by the spinning of the blades causes the bats to instantly die. Their bodies are extremely sensitive to pressure changes. If these bats are already endangered or their chief food source exists near turbines this can be a problem. These problems are being addressed but no permanent and effective solution has been implemented yet.
Many wind farms are built on migration spots for birds and bats. Thousands of raptors, owls, eagles and bats are all killed by wind turbines. The slaughter of thousands of raptors and bats at wind farms have been recorded in Pennsylvania, California, and West Virginia.
