The answer is yes and no. Tourism is damaging in that it wastes valuable resources like fossil fuels and electricity. When people travel they waste fuel, when they stay in hotels the number of people staying increase the electricity bill, if those hotels have pools or hot tubs then the facility is also wasting a lot of water, but there are positives for tourism. Those who take rainforest tours are taught about this particular environment and are taught how to prevent more damage to this important part of our environment. We learn to save the environment in this case, but more often than not tourism is a very wasteful business.
