is the thyroid gland an accessory organ?

No. The thyroid gland has its own very distinct purpose, which is the intake and conversion of iodine into a pair of chemicals called T3 and T4. Every cell in the body relies on these chemicals, and not just one other particular organ, as is generally the case in accessory organs.

    I hope this helped!
