Lava, which is essentially molten rock, provides the foundation for volcanoes like Mt. Rainer, the massive stratovolcano located in southeast of Seattle in the state of Washington. Lava can be used to build fire pits and furnaces. Lava has also been known to be incorporated with other building material in ancient times to make bricks for construction.
