Is there a way to put a monetary value on items in Nature?

yes and we do all the time. Think about a plant nursery. There is a price for buying trees and flowers. And when you are building a house and need extra dirt, there is a price to buy the dirt. When you are landscaping you can buy rocks. We pay for the resources of nature like water and oil everyday. You have to pay to go into certain parts of the wilderness as well.

The cost of items in nature is designated solely by the demand for those items by humans. Without demand, an item is completely worthless.
