Is there a time of the year where it is illegal to catch crabs?

I’m not sure exactly where you’re talking about, but crab fishing (like almost all hunting and fishing) definitely does have official seasons most places, and to catch them outside of that season is illegal. The reason for this is so as to avoid killing too many crabs and thus threatening their sustainability. But to get any more specific I’d need to know what kind of crabs you’re talking about and where. For instance, Alaska king crab season is between October and January.
