    Oh yeah. Quartz is the product of volcanic activity, and is remarkably plentiful in the earth. It is found in granite and other felsic rock.

    Quartz is also the primary component of most beach and river sand grains. Vast quantities of ancient sand, now sandstone, are also mostly quartz.
