Is there a queen termite like there is for ants?

    Yes, they do.  Like ants, the queen termite is incredibly large compared to the worker and soldier counter parts.

    Queen termites are female termites that have mated, flown and are producing eggs. There can be multiple queens in a given colony of termites.

    Like the queen ant, queen termites create a termite colony by laying eggs and tending to the colony until there are enough workers to care for it. Termite queens can live for more than ten years and can produce hundreds of eggs each year. Like the queen ant, the termite queen is also significantly larger than any of the other termites.
