Is there a Pussy Willow (Salix caprea) Tree that is not weeping? or is that just the Pussy Willow bush/shrub that grows so tall and looks like a tree only branched from the ground?

I think that the tree you’re thinking of is the Weeping Willow, common near water sources and known for it’s long, hanging branches, not to be confused with the Pussy Willow, a much smaller shrub that also grows in wet conditions and is known for its small, fuzzy catkins.  Both of these plants are from the same genus (Salix), but they are, in fact, different species.

Genus Salix is made up of over four hundred different types of willows, sallows, and osiers, so you can say that there are certainly willows that do not “weep.”

They are two completely different willows. You can tell all willows apart by looking at their leaves.

Weeping willows have leaves that are yellow-green to gold with pale undersides. They hang on long, slender, and pendulous branches.

Pussy willows have especially wide leaves that are dark green with whitish bloom below.
