is there a plant or an animal that is more important to the rainforests ecosystem?

This question cannot be answered because scientists do not know enough about rainforest ecosystems to make a definitive choice. The thing about ecosystems is that most require the presence of several different types of species to serve a range of functions in order to be healthy. For example, soil scientists still have many mysteries to solve about what happens in the soil of rainforests over time. To simply say this plant or animal is more important to the rainforests’ ecosystem would be premature without more research and understanding, and maybe even foolish to think that there is an answer.
