Is there more of a risk of E. coli infection when eating organic food?

Nope, there is no more risk associated with e. coli infection in organic foods than conventional foods. The 07 case of over a hundred people being infected with e. coli was linked to an organic spinach farm, but the isolated incident is not representative of higher risk. The Center for Disease Control agrees that organic foods are no more susceptible to e. coli than regular foods. Rather, conventional foods may actually be higher risk due to the lack of strict fertilizer controls that organic farming requires.
