In terms of pollution, China takes the cake. Its rate of emissions (in thousands of metric tonnes) is 7,031,916, which is 23% of the global total. It is responsible for the most CO2 emissions in the world. India is responsible for 5.78% of the world’s total, the fourth largest behind the European Union and the United States and of course China.
