Is there more barley or hops used in beer?

Hops are probably used more frequently in beer than in barley, simply because nearly all beers are flavored with hops but barley is one of a variety of starch sources from which beers are made. (It is the most popular, but some beers are made with cassava, millet and sorghum.) In an individual beer made from fermented barley alcohol, however, there will be a greater quantity of barley product than of hops, because hops are just used as flavoring.
