The states of Arizona and New Mexico in the United States, as well as Northwestern Mexico, do have a monsoon season that happens during the summer. Arizona and New Mexico do not get very much rain during the monsoon, but because it is so dry there during most of the year, it has a very dramatic effect on the states. If you arrive in Arizona during the monsoon season, you will be warned to pay attention for any signs that tell you not to drive through areas when the monsoon season is happening. There are flash floods that happen, and people regularly need to be rescued because of the flash floods.
