The Clean Water Act covers this. This act work to restore the biological, chemical, and physical integrity of our water systems. The Mexican Gulf has been part of the focus with the Clean Water Act.
There has not been any bills or legislation passed to clean up the Gulf of Mexico by Mexico itself. Most of the restoration have been done by volunteers and various environmental groups. In November of 2008, WiLDCOAST launched Mexico’s first National Coastal Cleanup in more than 100 sites throughout the country. WiLDCOAST partnered with Televisa, Mexico’s biggest national television network, Promotora Ambiental, the National Water Agency (CONAGUA), the Ministry of the Environment (SEMARNAT) and the National Park Service and other private sector partners to organize the event.
