Mexico City is one of the most polluted cities in the entire world, mostly due to a population explosion that now contains around 22 million people. This is especially sad because it used to be known for its clear crisp air just a few decades ago. Instead being able to see the snow-capped volcanoes some 60 miles away like they could back in the 1940’s, the visibility has dropped to around one mile. It has gotten so bad that most children in schools will color the sky grey or brown since they so rarely see a blue sky above them. The air and water around Mexico City is in desperate need to cleaning up and plans have been put into motion to try to reduce city-wide pollutants.
