Is there a lot of cancer in Africa?

    Yes, and cancer rates in developing countries have grown to compose roughly 50% of cases world wide. Although cancer is a growing problem in Africa it has been largely overlooked in the fight against AIDS and other widespread diseases. There are few facilities for those suffering from cancer in Africa and not much help for victims. However, the World Health Organization has shown there were 667,000 new cases of cancer in Africa in 2008 and 518,000 cancer caused or related deaths. Cancer survival rates, however, are not drastically lower than in the U.S. or other developed nations.
