Is there a law that requires lumber companies to plant new seeds?

I don’t know that it is a law, but it is in everyone’s best interest and lumber companies have acted on this. Government, lumber companies, and pulp & paper companies recruit employees specifically to plant a certain number of trees every year, and for pay. If you are hired by one of these programs you can actually earn money for planting trees. In Canada alone, as a result of these efforts, 700 million trees are planted each year. The demand for sustainable wood has also grown on average 250% every year for the past 5 years, so lumber companies have recognized that it is a marketable asset.
