They have a line called “SmartStrand,” which is made of materials that replace petroleum. 37% of the carpet is made out of renewably sourced polymers. The website states “Every seven yards of SmartStrand® with DuPont™ Sorona® renewably sourced polymer saves the energy equivalent of one gallon of gasoline.”
Ray Anderson was described as “America’s greenest CEO” by Fortune magazine, and his company, InterfaceFLOR, produces carpet tiles. Anderson has reduced the company’s greenhouse gas emissions by 82%, reduced water use by 75%, and 27% of its energy is supplied by renewable sources.
