The Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) is one of the largest species of deer. It can be found in most of Europe, the Caucasus Mountains region, Asia Minor, parts of western and central Asia, and the Atlas Mountains region in northwestern Africa. For the majority of medium-sized deer, the male is called a stag and the female is called a hind.
