Snowboarders tend to smoke more cigarettes on the mountain (and drop them on the ground) and therefore have a bigger impact on the local environment.
However, on the other hand, snowboarders may require less gear than skiers (no poles, plastic boots).
Is there any scientific evidence that supports the “snowboarders tend to smoke more cigarettes” idea? It may be true that they are worse for the environment than skiers but I am not sure if that is why.
There is no scientific evidence to support my assertion (that I know of). I base my statement solely on my own anecdotal experience.
